Crying Stones of Kakamega
If the name is fascinating, imagine how admirable the spot is? A large rock is fashioned into a solemn woman with weak shoulders. And from it comes an occasional out spring of water that bears semblance to falling tears. And this burst of tears is celebrated as a good omen and villagers appease the rock in times of drought.
Migingo Island
A visit to Lake Victoria wouldn’t be complete without touring its famed islands. First amongst the lot is a visit to Migingo Island. It peaks out of the waters of Lake Victoria and is turtle- shaped. Houses & bars are tucked away into establishments that are made out of iron.

Mageta Island
Mageta is not one among the recommended places, but the Island sure does have a charm of its own. It’s free from the network towers that connect you to the rest of the world. No vehicle has ever been ridden on the island’s terrain. Initially it served as a detention camp for Mau Mau fighters and now its townsfolk serve as traders or fishermen. It’s a small set-up with four primary schools, a secondary school and a dispensary. If you want to remember what those forgotten times were like, visit this Island.
Rusinga Island
If you are looking to rest in the Palm of luxury during your African vacation Rusinga is the island to visit. Perched on the edge of Lake Victoria, the place has a serene charm about it that’s wipes away the tiredness of a Safari. Exotic trees, chirping birds, and its sprawling stretch of lawns makes it a perfect retreat for families.
